Jiwon Min, Ph.D., 2023

Postdoctoral Fellow, Alpert Medical School at Brown

Jiwon (Jennie) Min, M.S., is a sixth-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University. She received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University and B.A. in Psychology and Pre-Health from the University of Notre Dame. Her current research interest is focused on multi-method, multi-informant assessment of personality pathology and mobile treatment of related maladaptive behaviors (e.g. nonsuicidal self-injury). Specifically, she is interested in using advanced quantitative methods (e.g. hiearchical linear modeling, item response theory) to better understand daily mechanisms of personality pathology and other maladaptive behaviors. Jennie's dissertation is titled "The Development of a Brief Personalized Mobile Intervention for Nonsuicidal Self-Injury." During her free time, she likes to sing and play with her cats.

Neil Meyer, Ph.D., 2020

Staff Psychologist, Gunderson Residence at McLean Hospital

Dr. Meyer received received his B.S. in psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. He completed his internship at the McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. His research interests are focused on the clinical utility and incorporation of dimensional models of personality. Specifically, he is interested in how emotion dysregulation and emotional overcontrol strategies are maladaptively reinforced throughout adulthood. He is also interested in personality assessment, treatment outcomes in those with personality pathology, and borderline and narcissistic personality disorders. Within the scientific community at large, Neil's interests also extend into ethical 'best practices' surrounding the distribution and dissemination of scientific literature, including the need for increased data transparency and open access to publicly funded publications. In his free time, he is passionate about being an informed consumer of news and politics.

Dr. Helle received her B.A. in psychology from Mount Mercy College and her M.A. in psychology with a clinical science emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa. She completed her internship at Yale University, Department of Psychiatry. Her research interests involve the assessment and conceptualization of personality pathology, emotion dysregulation, and negative outcomes associated with dysregulated affect (e.g., nonsuicidal self-injury, binge drinking, risky sexual behavior). Ashley is also interested in evidence-based interventions targeting emotional and behavioral dysregulation. In her free time, she has been trying to master the art of pour-over coffee and bullet journaling.

Hilary DeShong, Ph.D., 2017

Assistant Professor, Mississippi State University

E-mail: hld166@msstate.edu

Dr. DeShong  received her B.S. in psychology from West Virginia University and her M.S. in experimental psychology from Villanova University. Her research focuses on using the five-factor model of general personality to conceptualize, distinguish, and better understand personality disorders and personality constructs like psychopathy. She is interested in how maladaptive personality traits can influence and lead to maladaptive behaviors. She is currently working on projects including using ecological momentary assessment to investigate how personality influences daily life experiences and the role of rumination and emotional dysregulation within BPD. Hilary enjoys practicing Tae Kwon Do, reading for pleasure, and hanging out with her animals.

Dr. Lengel currently teaches courses in clinical psychology, psychopathology, and introductory psychology. His program of research primarily explores the application of dimensional trait models to personality pathology and maladaptive behaviors (e.g., nonsuicidal self-injury). He is also interested in examining the utility of personality traits in clinical assessment and treatment. Outside of research, Greg enjoys playing guitar, following his favorite sports teams, homebrewing, and training his dog, Olive.
